Last Friday, Martin Fehn and I had the privilege of delivering Leadership Conflict Resolution Training to the incredible leaders of the Southern California Mountains Foundation. What we appreciated most was their willingness to engage in honest dialogue and share powerful "aha" moments throughout the session. We spent the day providing supervisors and program leaders with practical, real-world tools to:
• Exploring Leadership Types and Trust Building
• Coaching team members through conflict using “I” statements and De-
escalating high-emotion situations
• Apply facts–interests–options–win-win negotiation techniques
• Recognizing Personal Conflict Styles and Awareness
• Strengthen accountability without damaging morale
Conflict is inevitable for all leaders especially those in mission-driven environments with teams working hard in the field and serving our communities with limited resources. But when leaders have the right tools, conflict becomes an opportunity for clarity, growth, and stronger collaboration.
